Regensburg was found 179 BC (before Christ) by the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius hwo biuld the Fortress Castra Regnia at the confluence of the river Regen and the river Danube (Donau). Later on Regensburg became the first capital of Bavaria (Bayern), then the seat of the Perpetual Imperial Diet, and the site of the first German parliament.
